If you have ninety minutes to spare and want to learn more about the social relevance and significance of motorcycles that you would have ever thought possible, have a listen to the lecture presented by Charles M. Falco at Princeton University on May 8th, 2002 entitled "The Art and Science of the Motorcycle."
Falco is the Chair of Condensed Matter Physics and Professor of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona, Tuscon, but more importantly, he is co-curator of "The Art of The Motorcycle," the record-breaking exhibition of motorcycles as works of art that opened at the Guggenheim in NYC several years ago and has since been on the road, drawing huge crowds wherever it goes and spawning a best-selling companion book as well.
It's kind of refreshing to hear someone who is intelligent, thoughful, articulate and erudite while still being passionate on the subject. I'm sorry I missed the exhibition but the lecture is probably better in some ways--Falco is fun to watch and listen to. Besides, I own the book.

seriously though, I saw the show when it opened in NY and it was AWESOME. The book 9which i have) is great, but there's something about seeing them first hand. Its well worth the ride to wherever its currently stationed. And you gotta love the Megola with its radial engine mounted inside the front wheel!!
What is a Chair of Condensed Matter? I mean come on, who can really sit on a chair of Evaporated Matter anyway?!
